Pete Briscoe in his book, Disarming the Darkness, speaks about spiritual warfare and how we, through trusting in God, can better disarm Satan’s attacks on us. There are many ways that we can look at our lives, many levels. We can look at the physical or just behaviors and say that we need to act better. But where do actions come from? They come from our mental behaviors, our thoughts. So to control our outward behaviors we also need to consider how we think. You can look deeper still. If you believe that we are also spiritual creatures, that we have a soul, then we also need to consider that level as well. In fact that is what Paul is telling us. Our battles, at their heart, aren’t with just bad behaviors or destructive thoughts. We need to realize this struggle is also one of the soul and is happening at a spiritual level.
If you are plugging into RightnowMedia you have access to a series of lectures by Pete Briscoe from his book, Disarming the Darkness. I plan on sharing this and other information in my next sermon series. We need to help each other live the kind of lives that God calls us to. We have really been challenged by Francis Chan in Crazy Love to love God back with the kind of love he loves us with. In this next series I hope to give us some tools for defeating the enemy more and also walking closer in our life with Christ.
