DECK THE HALLS (Of Your Heart)

“Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly.”  Well most of us aren’t quite sure what a bough of holly is but we are in full swing with putting up our Christmas decorations, from the tree to the lights.  We spend great time and money making sure every detail is just so.  I love the ornaments on the tree.  Many of the ones Jacqueline and I have are special and have a story.  Many of them were given to us by her favorite uncle, often from exotic countries where he would travel.  Others are special because they were there for our kids, either we bought them for them or even better they made them.
     Have you spent the same effort on getting the halls of your heart ready to celebrate Christ?   In Revelation we see the image of Jesus knocking at the door, waiting for the invitation to come in.  Is our heart a place that is welcoming to Christ, is there a place at the table for him to sit down and sup with us?  How do we even go about getting our hearts and lives ready?
     First things first, make sure that you have invited him into your heart.  This isn’t just a temporary, “stop by for the holidays” kind of invitation.  Look at your lists, where does Jesus show up on them (is he even on the list)?  Where will Christmas find you, just a hint Christmas falls on a Sunday this year?  We have a chance to “Go Tell It On the Mountains” just make sure the message you are sending and the message in your heart has Christ at the center of Christmas.
