There are certainly important issues on the table for this election. We face a steady, but weak recovery as a nation, yet locally we are seeing very tough times. The world seems on the brink of either collapse or the next major war. Will we be leaders into the future or will we withdraw and which is the right path? Probably the single biggest issue for the next president will be selecting justices to serve on the Supreme Court.
Now the question for us is where is our hope? Is it in electing the right person and having them make all the right changes we want? And do we even know what is right? Or do we put our faith in the rock of our salvation? Peter says that we are just passing through this world, it isn’t our home. I know it feels like home and heaven seems like a distant place that isn’t a reality (not yet anyway), but a hundred years from now what will still matter? Time is one of those things that can help to bring out the real value of something and to put things into a proper perspective. Four years from now we will have the chance to try this election thing again. However the choices we make with God have eternal consequences.
So pray and vote; it is important. But more importantly vote Christ into your heart and live for him.
