Getting Real

  Who is a Christian and what does it take to be a Christian? Ask a hundred folks and you'll get a hundred different answers. For some it simply voicing a prayer and thinking some kind thoughts about Jesus. For others grace has more rules and hoops to jump through than the law could ever have imagined. What is the bottom line? Faith is the key to our life in Christ. It is the foundation we build on, our faith and understanding of Jesus. But faith is in Jesus just a matter of saying, "Jesus, oh I know him, He's God son or something like that."

  Though we don't earn our salvation, we recieve it by faith through God's grace, our faith should move us. We know that we are his by his influence and work in our lives. If your relationship with Jesus is real it should make a difference in your life. We can play games with people in our lives. We can make some feel that we care when in fact we don't. We can spend time with a person and never once let them into our life. The same is true of folks with Jesus. They talk about him, but never really to him. They spend time in his house, but never truly invite him to make his home in them.

  It doesn't really matter if you lie to the preacher or your family about who you are. It does matter what you tell Christ, you can't lie to him. So are you being real with Jesus in your life?
