Yet thankfully God doesn’t take a break from loving us or watching over us. He’s never out of the office or off on vacation. Summer can be a time to catch up, change routines and have the time to do those things we know we need to do. We can have extra time for God, to read the Bible more, to attend services, to catch up on our spiritual family as well as our earthly families. It can be a time to strengthen; not weaken our walk with Christ. Don’t let the flame die out, but fan it to greater life.
The community revival turned out to be fantastic. For those who attended it was a blessing every meeting. We were blessed to have Richard and Jan Almand with us Tuesday and to hear from Paul Cocklin. I was blest to share Monday night. But each service ministered to me in so many ways. But this should be the start of something, not the conclusion. We need to continue to fan the flame, not let the coals die out. I know summer is often seen as a time to take a break. Certainly student (and teachers alike) look forward to the break from classroom duties and studies. Workers look forward to at least a brief respite from their jobs, better known as a vacation. Many put church in that same category, whether they are in town or not, its summer, I can skip church this Sunday or even a month.
